- As part of its preventive mission, the Haut-Commissariat à la Prévention de la Corruption (HCPC) has officially launched its major national anti-corruption awareness campaign, through a pilot phase in four of Benin's departments. The campaign kicked off on Monday in the Plateau department, more specifically in the communes of Kétou and Pobè.
This initiative, which targets community leaders, opinion leaders and learners, aims to raise awareness of the damaging effects of corruption, its disastrous impact on the country's development, and the legal sanctions available to those who commit such acts.
In Kétou, the HCPC delegation was warmly welcomed at the École Primaire Publique Centre, where schoolchildren and teachers turned out in large numbers. The speeches by Mr. Étienne BADOU, in charge of studies, training and monitoring-evaluation, and Dr. Olivier-Charles ATTINDEHOU, Secretary General of the HCPC, captivated the public's attention in a lively and participative atmosphere.
The delegation then travelled to the National University of Agriculture (UNA) in Kétou for an exchange session with academics, in the presence of the academic authorities. A milestone in the sensitization of young intellectuals, future players in national development.
The tour continued at Kétou's École Primaire Publique Oké Ata, where the commitment and receptiveness of the participants was particularly noteworthy. Through frank and fruitful exchanges, the learners expressed their aspirations for a better future, free from corruption, the scourge that compromises collective progress.
"Prevention is better than cure", reminded Dr. ATTINDEHOU, stressing that this campaign aims to treat the root of the problem, addressing citizens directly from an early age.
The pilot phase of this campaign also covers the departments of Borgou, Collines and Ouémé. It represents a decisive step in the national mobilization for more virtuous governance and a more promising future for all Beninese.
The HCPC invites the entire population of Benin to reinforce the scope of the message and contribute to anchoring a culture of integrity and responsibility in our country.
