On Friday, July 11, 2025, the High Commission for Corruption PreventionHCPC) held a strategic exchange session with Africa Global Logistics (AGL); at the latter's headquarters in Cotonou. The meeting, organized as part of the activities to mark Africa Anti-Corruption Day, marked a high point in the rapprochement between the institution for the prevention of corruption and a major player in the private sector.

AGL's voluntary approach is particularly noteworthy. In a context where companies are still reluctant to expose their vulnerabilities or to engage openly in the fields of compliance and ethics, it is highly commendable that a company of this stature shows a sincere interest in good governance, integrity and transparency.

This choice of commitment is neither trivial nor purely formal. It bears witness to a profound vision in which economic performance goes hand in hand with responsible practices. By taking the initiative of this partnership with the HCPC, AGL shows that it intends to fully play its role as a corporate citizen, mindful of the impact of its management on its employees, partners and the societal environment. The meeting, opened by AGL's compliance managers, reaffirmed this commitment. Country Compliance Delegate Francis VIKOU praised the HCPC 's responsiveness and stressed the importance of awareness-raising, prevention and support in consolidating a corporate culture based on sound values.

HCPC Secretary General Dr. Olivier-Charles ATTINDEHOU then presented the institution's missions and strategic orientations, emphasizing the three structuring axes of its action: detect and report, educate and raise awareness, dissuade and sanction. He also announced major upcoming events and projects, including the creation of an African Corruption Perception Index, supported by Benin.

The frank, no-holds-barred discussions identified a number of specific challenges facing AGL. The HCPC praised the lucidity and transparency with which these issues were addressed, and promised appropriate technical support.

Dr ATTINDEHOU rightly reminded us: "There is always room for manoeuvre to clean up practices. Hope is real when governance gives itself solid tools and allies."

More than a simple exchange, the meeting laid the foundations for a structuring partnership, based on a shared desire to build a solid, ethical and sustainable organizational culture.

In closing the session, the Secretary General of the HCPC declared with conviction:

"We're not here to judge, but to build. And we'll do it together."

Towards sustainable synergy between public and private players

AGL's initiative marks a new stage in cooperation between the public and private sectors in Benin. It paves the way for a partnership model in which the company becomes an active stakeholder in ethical governance, at the service of sustainable development at national level.

At a time when the fight against corruption calls for cross-functional, concerted and adaptable responses, AGL's commitment is an inspiring example to be encouraged, strengthened and, above all, reproduced.
